OUR STORY

Aegis started with a group of underdogs building the event we wished existed.

No guarantees.
No formula.
Just intention.

In 2023, we held our first edition of Aegis Festival at Arnaaon. And since then, we’ve grown and built it year by year, constantly faced with the challenges of Lebanon.

The team had a goal to create a belief system, a space where people shared the same set of values, practices and beliefs. We wanted to create a space for the community to truly grow and evolve.

With no boundaries in mind and complete freedom to create what we wanted, this allowed us to experiment, to fail and to explore the possibilities this land and its people could offer us.

Aegis is a cultural movement operating as a shared mindset. A shared mindset for not just its team, but everyone who comes across it.

OUR Purpose

Building a festival brand in Lebanon comes with its own challenges. For years, we followed the same blueprint as everyone else, book international names to grow visibility and build credibility.

Entering our fourth year, we were once again confronted with the realities of this country. And we arrived at a simple but uncomfortable truth: if our identity is built on what we import, we're doing exactly what everyone else is doing, and we're drifting from the belief system we had in mind when we started.

A festival without its own culture is just an event. We didn't want to keep producing events. We wanted to build something that actually meant something; to this place, to this community, and to the people who show up every year believing in what we're trying to do.

message from our director

"Of This Land" is the conviction behind every decision we're making this year.

We are shifting our focus entirely to our own land. Recognising and building with what is already here, rather than looking elsewhere for it.

We are moving toward an edition shaped entirely by those who live this shared rhythm, artists and creators who are rooted in this context and carry a genuine connection to it.

Aegis Festival becomes a homegrown festival this year. A celebration of ourselves, of what this land has given us, and of the talent that has grown from it despite everything. The music, the activations, the art installations, the producers, all of it a reflection of where we come from.

Every part of this edition is a testament to our collective persistence. A spotlight on the key players shaping Lebanon's music, wellness, and art scenes. A space for every creative person to express themselves, and a new way for our community to experience Aegis.
